The
Pasadena Sister Cities Committee's internship program fosters
and encourages the professional development of participating
interns, while providing assistance to Pasadena area businesses
and organizations. The program gives young adults (preferably
college graduates or students in the latter portion of
their degree programs) the opportunity to do meaningful
work in a professional environment. As a result, the intern
gains practical work experience and first-hand exposure
to the way business is conducted in the United States.
Internships are normally unpaid.
Following
are some guidelines for candidates who wish to participate
in this program:
- Participants
should be at least 21 years of age and finished (or nearly
finished) with their university studies.
- Candidates
must have health and accident insurance suitable for
international travel.
- Ideal
intern candidates will possess some work experience in
their home country (part-time or full-time) in their
desired internship field.
- Because
the intern will work in English speaking businesses or
organizations, candidates must have a high proficiency
in spoken and written English.
- Following
acceptance in their home country, candidates should arrange
to have their respective sister city organization submit
a copy of their curriculum vitae, including photograph,
a letter explaining their specific interest in the internship
program, and how their work experience relates to their
desired internship. Application materials should be
received at least three (3) months prior to their planned
internship period. Direct all correspondence to:

- Internships
typically last approximately six (6) weeks and do not
include financial compensation by the employing company
or organization.
- Interns
are generally housed by host families in the Pasadena
area.
- Intern
candidates must pay for their international travel, dining
out, entertainment or incidental expenditures during
their stay in Pasadena.
- Once
the Intern Committee receives and approves an application,
an attempt is made to place the candidate with a prospective
company or organization. Once placement has been finalized
with a company or organization, then housing arrangements
are made. The intern candidate shall be notified as the
process develops.
