Brief Introduction of JIN FAN Chinese Folk Orchestra

In 1989, Beijing No.35 Middle School Chinese Folk Orchestra was given the honorary title of the “JIN FAN (Golden Sail) Chinese Folk Orchestra” by the Beijing Municipal Education Authority.  Composed of talented middle school students, JIN FAN Chinese Folk Orchestra is the largest one among all the high level middle school orchestras in Beijing.  Promoting Chinese folk music and inheriting traditional folk music spirit as the core value, JIN FAN has produced and performed a number of Chinese folk music works and made an outstanding contribution to the education of Chinese folk music.  Mr. JIA Qinglin, CPPCC Chairman, Mr. Liu Qi, member of Political Bureau of the Party, Mr. Meng Xiaosi, Vice Minister of the Culture Ministry and other government leaders have been among the audience and given high appraisal about the performances.  JIN FAN has now over 100 talented young students and they have been the winners of different folk music/instruments contests in China.  Most of the students also develop excellent ethnic and aesthetic personality.  Some of them are matriculates of famous universities in China, including Peking University, Tsinghua University.  Since establishment, JIN FAN has been invited to visit and perform in Germany, Chinese Taiwan Province and Hong Kong SAR and enjoyed warm welcome and high appraisal from the audience.  JIN FAN’s trophy collection includes the Champion in the National Youth Chinese Folk Music Contest. CCTV has produced and broadcasted three features of JIN FAN’s performances and concerts.  JIN FAN will continue to take great efforts to promote Chinese music heritage and contribute continuously to music education in China.
